Sophie dived off the diving board at swim! She has always been so scared. She just walked out there and jumped right off. I was so excited!

Five On Friday: June 10, 2016 Edition

My first blog link-up!
I blog a little less in the summer, but I still want to capture all the summer fun on my blog. I decided to make it my first link-up! I thought it would be a fun way to meet more bloggers and help "scrapbook"  our summers.
Sunday @ 5 AM through Monday @ 11:59 PM
you can link up a summer themed post.
The best part: it can super simple! A photo or photos, a short story, a rant about your kids being home, instagram photo of a summer cocktail,  tell us how the heat ruins your hairs, what Netflix you binged on or book your reading...anything goes if it's about your summer!
Make this your no stress, fun post!

I can't wait to see what you post!

The last couple years I have been hooked on celeb memoirs. Andy Cohan, Melissa Joan Hart, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Mindy Kaling....I will stop, I think you get it. I checked out this book, but couldn't read it. I decided to check out the audio book instead.

I haven't made it through it yet, but so far it's ok, Nothing too shocking so far except the awful reading. Her voice is monotone (not her normal speaking voice on RHONJ) and the worst part is how she pauses mid sentence.

I feel like I had to post this after mentioning her book, Turning Tables. Get it? Get it?
I didn't until I posted this meme.
The table flippin' may be one of the great Real Housewives moments ever.

I took the girls to the zoo this week. You can see some more pics and read about it here

Heidi's First Trip To The Zoo

I took the girls to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo yesterday. Its a smaller zoo, but after 4 hours of keeping the girls from running all over I was exhausted. The weather was perfect (70 and sunny) and only downside was that it was crowded. Overall, it was still a good day, but when I finally laid down last night, I was asleep in about 2 minutes.

Don't be fooled by this photo! Heidi was ok in the stroller about half  of the time. The other half  she was either out of it or trying to get out.

I got a few more photos, but nothing amazing. Trying to get photos of an 18 month old while they are on the move just ain't easy!  And since we have all been bombarded with the recent cautionary tale, I think we are all probably extra extra careful watching our kids at the zoo, right?

SDOS: June 1-June4

June 1--Sophie's birthday
We had a picnic at the park and played at the splash pad. Sophie and I made a strawberry poke cake for dinner.

June 2-- Picnic @ the park, fed ducks and went to the pool.

June 3
Sophie went to see a local theater to see a production of Beauty and the Beast with her Girl Scout troop.

June 4-- Rainy day. We stayed home for some crafts and cleaning.

I had to snap a photo of this. Sophie was keeping herself busy and I wasn't paying too much attention. She came in the living room and showed me this blanket she made for her favorite stuffed animal, Wolfy. Wolfy is the equivalent of Linus's blanket in Charlie Brown. Sophie loves him. It's only fitting that Wolfy would get a blankie,  Those hearts and letters were all painted on.

5 on Friday: June 3rd, 2016 Edition

This past week was a little rough for me. I was in a lot of pain and ended up making a trip to the ER. I kind of checked out blogging. It was nice coming back to the blogging world and finding I am the featured blogger for this week's High Five for Friday Link-Up. Whoohoo!

Tuesday was Sophie's last day of school and Wednesday she turned eight. We spent the first day of summer break and her birthday having a picnic at the park and playing at the splash pad. Here is pic of Heidi checking out the scene,

Have you heard of Pocket Cooking? It's miniature cooking. For real. I guess it's a thing in Japan. You can find videos online of everything from pizza to fried chicken to squid. It's weirdly fascinating to watch. Check out the pancake one below.

Summer break has just started, but I am already headed to this:

Happy Friday and

Dear Sophie:A Letter On Your Eighth Birthday

Dear Sophie,

I can't believe you are 8 years old. I feel like you are growing up too fast. I wish I could slow things down a little. It's  hard to believe that it was 8 years ago that you made me mom. I remember holding you as a tiny baby and thinking you were the most amazing thing ever.
You are feisty, funny, smart and sometimes a drama queen. You take swim lessons and play baseball. You ended up on same team as your best friend, Aubrey, which you are so excited about. You are also in Girl Scouts and are in mini 4-H.
First grade was a rough for you. It wasn't academically rough, but adjusting to a new teacher and classroom routines was hard. You made it through. Just like I told you. Another example of how your mom is always right :) Always listen to your mom.
You are good at math. I hope this lasts. I don't want you to get stuck in the "I'm bad at math" mindset that I think many kids get into. Honestly, you do well in school right now in all subjects. I'm thankful that at this point things are coming pretty easy and I hope you don't take it for granted if that continues.
Shopkins are your favorite toys right now. For your birthday you are getting money to go pick some out. You like to listen to music. You like Katy Perry and even though you have a lot of favorite songs, you seem to always want to hear Shut Up And Dance With Me by Walk The Moon.
I love seeing you grow up and experience new things, but you will always be my little baby.

Love you lots,
Mom
