Weekend Recap 8.25.2014

Friday: After picking Sophia up from school we drove be the new house and walked around the yard (No one lives there, but we haven't closed on the house).  Sophia was walking around the yard and spotted some mushrooms. I told her they weren't the kind to eat. She asked, "If I touch it with my shoe, will my shoe become poisonous?"  Then she asked me if smurfs live in the yard. So cute! Of course I said they do live there and even saw little blue things running around :)

When we got home I checked her backpack. She had behavior note from her teacher. It was all good! The teacher sent them home with all students and said she was giving them room for mistakes since it was the beginning of year. But I hope if we get more they are all like this one:

Saturday: Sophia and I went to an event celebrating the anniversary of a community center being open. Sophia had a lot of fun. Isn't the face painting cute?

Sunday: I spent most of the day packing. Not fun at all.  And I watched the new and last season of The Killing on Netflix while packing. I think the final episodes were the best. Anyone agree?

Weekend Recap

Sunday Social

1. What are you most looking forward to about Fall?
Pumpkins....I mean that in the all encompassing sort of way. Pumpkin spice, pumpkin cookies, pumpkins outside, pumpkin patches, pumpkin pie scented candles.  I also like the changing leaves and being able to wear sweaters (without the coat that will be required soon).

2. What is your favorite sports team?
I'm not a sports person at all. I'm a Hoosier and I like the shade of blue that the Colts use. It's also Ry's favorite football teams. So we have plenty of Colts stuff.  I grew up and lived not too far from Cincinnati most of my life. If I pick up something baseball related its for the Cincinnati Reds. But I'm not rushing to the TV to watch any games.

3. If you could go back to college is there one thing you would change?
Don't be in such a hurry.

4. What was your favorite class you ever took? HS or College
Hmmmm. I don't recall anything standing out. But when I was working on my my master degree I got really into my statistics class. I normally hate math and numbers, but the pace of the course and text just came together perfectly for me. Boring, huh?

5. Reach into your purse what is the first thing you grab?
Receipts. When my purse is a mess the main culprit is normally receipts.

Baby Bump Update: Week 21

Today starts week 21.  According to I'm Expecting app on my phone the baby is approximately 10.5 inches long. It actually compares the baby to the size of a carrot.

Looking Back @ Week 20 ( 8/16-8/22):
Week 20 included the big ultrasound. I was a little disappointed it wasn't 3D and it wasn't on the big screen like the doctor's office, but it was still great to see the little one again. I also have some kinda creepy ultrasound photos from it.  Of course, the frame and writing are pink because it's a girl!

When I showed the yawning one to Sophia her response was, "It's mouth is open like it's screaming." I hadn't thought of it like that and now it kind of creeps me out. Of course, at the ultrasound it was super cute to see the yawn and hand by the face.

I have felt ok with the exception of my allergies giving me headaches. Otherwise I felt good. My belly is getting a lot bigger now.

Summer Collage

Summer is almost over and I just wanted to share a few photos.

First Day of Kindergarten

Last week Sophia went to her first day of kindergarten! She loves it. I am so thankful that she is having a good experience. After the first day of school she said, "I have the nicest teacher. I had the greatest day and had fun even though we couldn't go outside for recess." It was a rainy day, but she seemed to enjoy inside recess too.
I walked her into her room that morning. I could tell she was a little nervous, but she did really well.  I had to leave before I started crying. My own nerves mixed in with all the sadness of seeing her become a "big girl" had me in tears.  Tomorrow will be the end of her second week. Hopefully she will keep loving school!

Baby Bump Update: Week 20 (posted late)

Week 20 (8/16-8/22)
This week marks the half way point! Very exciting! I feel like it's time to start getting ready for the baby. Monday (8/18) will be the big ultrasound!

Looking Back on Week 19 ( 8/9-8/15):
This was an exciting week for Sophia. With her starting kindergarten I was very focused on her getting ready for school. Another good and uneventful week for the pregnancy. Week 20 is the ultrasound and I am looking forward to finding out if it is a girl or a boy. The suspense is killing me!

The Night Before The First Day of Kindergarten

Sophia has went to bed early to help her get a better sleep for the big day tomorrow: The First Day of Kindergarten. Yep. It's that time. I am beyond nervous for her. I am holding it together right now, but I know after  I pull out of the school parking lot I will have a meltdown.

Tonight we went to the Back To School night. We met the teacher and dropped off her supplies. The school she will be attending is so much bigger than the elementary school I attended. Walking her through it felt so overwhelming. I felt scared for her, but I kept reminding her (and myself) that there would always be an adult helping her get through the building.

Before bed I read her The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. It is just the sweetest story. I started crying half way through it and could barely finish. Sophia kept hugging me and reassuring me it would be ok. If you need a book to read about overcoming fears or firsts than this is an excellent book to read. I do recommend having tissues ready!

I am going to go make sure we have everything ready for tomorrow and try to prepare myself for the big day.

Baby Bump Update: Week 17

I am 17 weeks pregnant now! So close to being half way there!

Looking back at week 16 (7/19-7/25):
I felt ok most of the week. On Tuesday (7/22) I had a doctors appointment. My blood pressure was high and the doctor had me schedule an appointment to come back the next week. I also was told to begin taking low-dose aspirin as there is evidence that it may help prevent preeclampsia. I picked some up at Target after the appointment.
