Weekend Recap

Friday: Nothing eventful. Sophia and I stayed at home. Ryan went out for a guys night.

Saturday: Sophia and I headed out to Fort Wayne. We went the arcade, shopping and had dinner at Olive Garden. In classic Olive Garden fashion even though we got there at 4:15 to beat the dinner crowd, there was a 45 minute wait. We had a gift card and don't live close to one, so we waited.
We couldn't pass up a big Fruit Ninja game!

She took the trucker game seriously.

Sunday: We went to Mcdonald's playland, then we went to see Sherman and Peabody. It was a cute movie. It was really nice to see simple animation instead of the fancy stuff.  Afterwards a quick trip to the grocery store.

1.  Shamrock Shake on St. Patty's Day
Sophia and I just had to get shakes on Monday.

2.    Low Carb Danishes and Cheese Crackers
Ryan has done so well with reducing carbs from his diet for the past month.  I can't seem to stick to it for more than 3 days. So I have been trying to find snacks and recipes that might help me. This week   I made yummy cheese crackers and low carb danishes. I will post the recipe/link to recipe next week.

 3. Kindergarten Roundup
Sophia's preschool sent home a flyer about kindergarten roundup! I'm freaking out!

4. Frozen
Sophia and I saw Frozen during it's opening weekend last November. We both loved it, so I preordered it on Amazon. We got it Wednesday afternoon right before swim lessons. She was so excited that she watched it on her way to swim! The only thing cuter than the movie is listening to her sing along!

5.  Joining the smartphone club
Anyone remember the LG Envy Touch? I do, because for the last 5 or 6 years that has been my phone. Yep, old school. Those
data plans just seem like so much money. Well, Sophia laid it down somewhere in Walmart. After a lot of looking, googling and a trip to the Verizon store, I decided on a smart phone.

The Daily Burn

I feel like it is impossible to turn on the TV without seeing a commercial for the Daily Burn and the offer for a free 30 day trial. After checking out the site and trying to find some reviews, I decided to give it a shot.

What is it?
Think a health and fitness version of Netflix. You are able to stream workout videos on your computer, Xbox, tablet, etc.. You can do the workouts in any order  or have the guidance of a program calendar. Or you can do both. For instance, I chose the True Beginner program. That means my calendar is set up for True Beginner workouts, but I like to try the shorter, 15-minute workouts afterwards. I am still doing the trial, but it states that it is $10 per month afterwards.

What do I think of it?
I really like what I have seen so far. It's only been slightly over a week and my main workouts have been the True Beginner. I have tried the Restorative Yoga, Meditation Yoga (not a work out) and Superhero Kickboxing. They were all all 15 minute videos that did after True Beginner. With the exception of the kickboxing, I have liked them all.

I am going to try to switch it up some more and try other longer workouts. I am also going to try to update weekly until it gets closer to the end of the trial. I have a history of being all enthusiastic at first and not staying motivated. Hopefully it will be different with Daily Burn.

Weekend Recap:: Mom's 50th Birthday

My mom turned 50 last Friday. I live 3 hours away from my family, so we stayed the entire weekend.

Friday: We stayed home until Ryan got home. Then we left and drove back to my hometown. Sophia insisted on bringing Simon to show my mom and sister. We got there at 7 and ate dinner at my mom's house.

Saturday: Sophia and I woke up early. We went and got some biscuits & gravy. We also got a box of donuts to take to my mom's house. Then Mom, Sophia and I went shopping and out to lunch. By the time we got home we had to take the dog out and get ready for her birthday party. We left early enough to get her a gift certificate and balloons. Then we went to a local Mexican restaurant along with my moms friend's and family. I think she had a great birthday!

Sunday: We woke up, got breakfast with my mom and then headed home.

What I'm Reading: Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner

Click book cover to go to Amazon
Sooooo...this book was pretty big deal when it was first published----at least that is what I got out my Google search. However, I am glad I read it at this point in my life. As a twenty-eight year old that has struggled with my weight and has had some not-so-great relationships, this was a refreshing read. Some of the plot was a little over the top (in the normal way that chick-lit books frequently are), but there were so many times I would think, I have thought that exact same thing before. I found myself able to relate to the main character, Cannie, and looked forward to seeing how her life turned out.
