What I'm Reading: While My Sister Sleeps

While My Sister Sleeps
Author: Barbara Delinsky

Quick Review:  A tragic event leads to a family having to come to terms with the many secrets they have kept from each other. It’s worth the read. Overall a good book.

While My Sister Sleeps was a nice change from my usual romantic, chick books.  The books centers on tragic event that leads to the main character realizing that there were parts of her sister’s life that she never got to know.  There is a lot of heavy stuff in the book, but it never overpowers that the real focus is on the emotional coping and relationship between family members.  I was particularly fond of the fact that Delinsky had the Good Samaritan be important to the story-line throughout the book. It was a reminder that many tragic events touch the lives of more than just the families, but everyone involved. It also gave the characters, particularly Kathryn, the opportunity to let the reader understand how emotionally complex their feelings were towards him.  I want to point out that this isn't the main storyline, but a part of it I really enjoyed. Overall, it’s a good book.
